Tenis Klub Trim is pleased to be able to offer its younger members the ITF program ‘Tennis10s’.

The ITF recommend that players aged 10 and under do not train or play competition with a regular yellow ball on a full court, but instead train and compete with a Red, Orange or Green ball on the appropriate sized court.

Since we opened our doors in the year 2010 we have offered this program to children aged 10 years and younger. The ITF rules came into force this year, 2012, all children aged 10 and younger cannot compete on a full sized court with a normal yellow tennis ball, instead slower, RED, ORANGE and GREEN balls are used.

RED
For children aged five to eight years old. Red balls are used and the court sizes are 11-12m * 5-6m. Smaller nets are used for this level.

ORANGE
For children aged eight to 10 years old. Orange balls are used and the court sizes are 18m * 6.5-8.23m.

GREEN
For children aged nine and ten. Green balls are used on a standard sized tennis court.

Why is this change important?
Other sports don’t make kids play like adults, so why does tennis? Allowing small children to play on full sized courts is equivalent to allowing Novak Djokovic to compete on a full sized football pitch!
